East Africa Indigenous and Minorities Forum

  • A forum to connect, share, learn and act.
  • This gathering, bringing together hundreds of participants from across the region, is designed to create a dynamic space for critical reflection, discussion, and visionary approaches to advancing people-centered justice. It fosters equity, inclusion, and the democratization of the law by elevating and expanding local legal knowledge, capacity, and power within communities—especially at this pivotal moment of transformative change.
  • By uniting policymakers, experts, and civil society, we facilitate solution-oriented dialogue aimed at advancing human rights and ensuring that justice systems work for everyone. This forum serves as a platform for connection, collaboration, and collective action, enabling participants to share insights, learn from each other, and generate innovative strategies to address pressing challenges.
  • It is a space where thought leaders come together to not only discuss solutions but to ignite change, empowering communities to take ownership of their legal rights and build a future rooted in justice and equality.
  • We are committed to defending the rights of indigenous communities and marginalized minorities by providing robust legal assistance and engaging in high-impact advocacy efforts to address human rights violations, discrimination, and land rights issues. Our initiatives ensure that indigenous peoples can fully access justice and enjoy the protection of their inherent rights. Our overarching goal is to empower communities by strengthening legal support, advancing indigenous and minority rights, and building capacities that foster digital inclusion and human rights advocacy on a global scale.
  • Advocacy & Policy Reform: Engage in strategic lobbying efforts at local, national, and regional levels to influence policy changes that safeguard the rights of indigenous and minority communities. We work tirelessly to advocate for legal reforms and the enforcement of international human rights standards.
  • Awareness & Education: Develop and disseminate advocacy materials that raise awareness of indigenous rights, focusing on legislation, jurisprudence, and best practices. We support indigenous communities in amplifying their voices and advocating for their rights.
  • Capacity Building: We aim to enhance the capabilities of our team, stakeholders, and the communities we serve. By 2028, we aspire to build the digital rights and advocacy capacities of two million people within the Global Majority. Through tailored interventions and capacity-building programs, we equip individuals with the knowledge and tools to defend their rights in an increasingly digital world.
  • Global Reach & Partnerships: Expand our footprint and deepen our impact by reaching new regions within the Global Majority, forging strategic alliances with local and international organizations. Together, we aim to address evolving challenges, advocate for indigenous rights, and drive systemic change in the most vulnerable regions.
  • Global Campaigns: We organize global advocacy campaigns that elevate local struggles to the international stage, generating global solidarity, attracting attention, and driving collective action for human rights protections.
  • Our overarching goal is to empower communities by strengthening legal support, advancing indigenous and minority rights, and building capacities that foster human rights and human rights advocacy on a global scale.
  • At Article 43 International, we are dedicated to expanding access to justice at the local, national, and international levels, focusing on those whose lack of legal protection leaves them vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. In partnership with communities across East Africa, we work to secure the legal rights guaranteed to them by court rulings and existing laws, ensuring that justice is not just an ideal, but a reality.
  • Our approach combines legal empowerment, advocacy and access to justice to promote and defend human rights. By making the legal system accessible to marginalized communities, we help transform the law from an instrument of oppression into a tool for empowerment and justice.
