Article 43 International is an independent international non-profit organization that works to bridge legal knowledge gaps, empowers under-served and disadvantaged populations, and drives positive change through a three-pronged approach of legal empowerment, advocacy and access to justice.  Our unwavering commitment to realizing legal empowerment for underserved and disadvantaged communities is the reason for our very existence and solidifies our belief in a world where access, rights, and opportunities are fundamental entitlements—are not privileges reserved for a few. We work within a complex and dynamic region, shaped by a web of social, economic, and political forces. This is particularly true when addressing the broader human rights landscape for disadvantaged populations. By navigating these intersecting factors, we strive to create lasting change and ensure that legal information, justice and equality are accessible to all. Currently, we have a footprint in 4 countries, focusing on providing legal capacity building, mainstreaming human rights into development conversations and creating pathways for socio-economic empowerment in under-served and disadvantaged communities in Eastern Africa. We strive to enable the development of inclusive societies by addressing discriminatory laws, policies and practices that result in communities being deprived of their social, economic and cultural rights which condemns them to being ‘forgotten’ in development that benefits the rest of urban populations. We believe in the power of law to drive lasting, scalable change. We work with partners who believe that the law can aid in solving some of the world’s toughest problems and that this is not only a moral imperative but also an urgent intervention.
