grassroots Legal Empowerment

We equip underserved and marginalized communities with the much-needed tools, knowledge, and resources they need to advocate for their rights and secure social justice, reduce poverty, strengthen democratic values, achieve equity and equality, and realize their full potential.

Our Vision

We envision a more equitable world where the law empowers underserved and marginalized communities, ensuring they have the tools, knowledge and resources to thrive and confront inequality.

Our Mission

We equip underserved and marginalized communities with the much-needed tools, knowledge, and resources they need to advocate for their rights and secure social justice, reduce poverty, strengthen democratic values, achieve equity and equality, and realize their full potential.

We empower communities through legal aid, rights advocacy, and sustainable development for lasting change.

Legal Empowerment
Advocacy and Legal Support
Access to Justice

How we do it

  • We connect people who are disadvantaged with legal assistance. We are convinced that the surest antidote against infringement of public rights is a legally educated public.
  • Our ultimate aim is to help local communities create long-lasting change in some of the world’s most marginalised regions.
  • Ours is a fight on tackling the systemic pathologies that limit access to rights possession and rights enforcement
  • We work to enable governments and empower indigenous people to reform laws and strengthen institutions to promote peace, justice, sustainable development and economic opportunity.
  • We pull together teams of legal experts to support the policy and legal needs of marginalised communities.
  • We hold states and municipal authorities accountable to their national and international obligations.

Our Theory of Change

Article 43 International steps in by providing long-term support to communities  at the grassroots, enabling them to subsequently confront systemic injustices and help them advocate for broader legal protections for local communities. The world can no longer afford to overlook the widening justice gap that leaves millions disempowered and vulnerable. It’s time to take decisive action to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background or geography, has access to justice, understands their rights, and can leverage the law to shape their future and that of their communities. Bridging this global justice divide is not just a matter of fairness—it’s a fundamental prerequisite for equality, peace, and sustainable development. We believe that to right the systemic wrongs that have characterized the experiences of local communities in the Ateker region, these three-pronged approach would work:

LEGAL EMPOWERMENT: Providing Legal Knowledge as a Means for Empowerment

Ensuring that the underserved and marginalized communities understand their rights and the processes by which those rights can be exercised and enforced.

ADVOCACY: Reform the Law and Give the Poor Voice

Ensuring that the poor are able to influence the development of law and policy and enhance their rights through democratic and transparent political processes. By levelling the playing field, we ensure that the poor are able to overcome bureaucratic and cost barriers that broadly affect their access to opportunities presented by the law.

ACCESS TO JUSTICE: Strategic Litigation

Making sure that the poor can protect their rights in and access to opportunities and assets through affordable, fair mechanisms for enforcement of rights and contracts and dispute resolution.
